Sonnenpumpe

Heating without fossil fuels – even in the winter

This system combines a solar array with a heat pump. Thus, the collectors can also “harvest” heat at low temperatures. At temperatures above freezing, the Sonnenpumpe system also runs 24h/day during the winter. The energy supply is guaranteed throughout the whole year.

Benefit: very low operating costs.

On average solar radiation doesn't drop below 200 W/m², even during the months of November, December, January and February. Therefore, a system that already functions at outdoor temperatures of 8ºC can provide the benefits of solar energy year-round, winter included.

A heat pump is used to cool a special latent heat storage system (LHS system) to the point that it can be charged by the collector even at low temperatures. Large quantities of heat (latent heat) can be withdrawn from the storage system and are later replenished by the sun.

Tanks installed in a boiler room or other cellar room serve as the LHS system; otherwise a below-ground cistern can also be used. Their design ensures a smooth operation even during the winter. Depending on the circumstances, an oil tank can also be converted into a storage system.

The Sonnenpumpe can also be used in combination with ground probes or earth collectors. In doing so, the collectors replace 50% of the required capacity at a lower price.
